BBC to work with BMG and BPSG to respond to Fire Services Levy review

The funding of fire services (CFA and MFB) in Victoria currently comes from a levy placed on inurance policies - commercial and residential. This has long been seen as lacking equity and a recommendation of the Bushfires Royal Commission was to broaden the base of raising funds for fire services.

The Bendigo Business Council will work with the Bendigo Manufacturers Group, Bendigo Professional Services Group and City of Greater Bendigo to prepare a joint submission to the Baillieu Government's Fire Services Levy Options paper. A meeting will be held next week to develop the joint response.
